Herbal Tinctures

Our herbal tinctures –
most of them organic - are extracts of plants in a mixture of organic grain alcohol and spring water.

They are particularly suitable for adding to base skincare products such as creams and lotions where a more therapeutic than cosmetic effect is required.

All these tinctures have a long history of use in herbal medicine. The therapeutic properties of the herbs are extracted not only by maceration in the alcohol/water mixture but also by prior infusing, decocting or distilling involving gentle heat.
This makes these tinctures particularly suitable for adding to base skincare product such as creams and

lotions where a more therapeutic than cosmetic effect is required.
(In truly natural skincare products, however, the distinction between 'cosmetic' and 'therapeutic' is not sharp because all plant ingredients featured on this site have beneficial effects on the skin that are more than 'cosmetic').

The concentration of each tincture is indicated under the description tab. The majority are 1:3 25%, which means that in the preparation of the tincture 1 part herb was macerated in 3 parts of a 25% alcohol-water solution.
