Sea Buckthorn (organic) CO2 extract is derived from the fruit pulp of Hippophae rhamnoides, a shrub with yellow berries common among the dunes of The Netherlands, where it is known as ''Duindoorn''. 

Sea Buckthorn (organic) CO2 is a wonderful ingredient in skincare products aimed at relieving pain and repairing skin damage caused by sunburn and other burns.  

Sea Buckthorn extract contains the rarely occurring palmitoleic acid, an omega 7 fatty acid, which is also a component of the skin fat and stimulates regenerative processes in the epidermis and promotes the healing of wounds. Therefore, the sea buckthorn extract can help to activate skin regeneration and minimize scars.

The other unsaturated fatty acids contained in the extract, including palmitic, oleic and linoleic acids, help protect the skin from transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

Sea Buckthorn (organic) CO2 extract also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, thanks to its abundance of carotenoids, which give the berries their yellow-orange colour, as well as vitamins C and E. The extract is therefore particularly suitable for use as a key ingredient in anti-aging products, creams, lotions and balms for dry and chapped skin, products against skin impurities and in gentle soaps. Sea buckthorn can also be used in sunscreen and after sun products. 

In addition, Sea Buckthorn strengthens the hair and so can be used as an ingredient in in shampoos, conditioners and other hair products that aim to restore damaged hair. 

Sea Buckthorn (organic) CO2 extract is produced by high-pressure extraction with natural spring carbon dioxide. This results in a high-purity, concentrated extract, rich in the abovementioned fatty acids and carotenoids. It takes1-3kg of sea buckthorn berries to make 100g of the CO2 extract. 

Recommended rate of use in skincare recipes is 1-3%.
