Camphor-like odour with a woody-scent undertone.

This oil, especially as it is from an organically cultivated source, is well suited for very young children, the elderly and people who are exhausted and prone to frequent respiratory infections.

Eucalyptus smithii is well known as a respiratory decongestant. It also stimulates the immune and circulatory systems and is useful for rheumatic aches and pains. It can be diffused into the surrounding air using an aromaburner or an electric vapouriser.

Because this oil is rich in 1,8 cineol it also has anti-inflammatory effects and so finds good use in skincare preparations such as creams, ointments, gels and balms for muscular aches and joint pains, and insect bites and stings.

Caution: Possible sensitization in some individuals. We recommend a patch test (dilute the essential oil in a cream or carrier oil first) before using any new skincare preparation. As with virtually all essential oils it should not be used neat on the skin nor be taken internally!
