Origin: Italy

Uplifting fresh aroma that can help alleviate anxiety and mild depression. Add to base cream, base oils, body butters, etc to help balance an oily skin, or to help with eczema, psoriasis, acne and herpes. Also as an insect repellent.

Named after the Italian city of Bergamot in Lombardy where the oil was first sold. The oil has been used in Italian folk medicine for many years. A few drops placed in an essential oil diffuser and breathed in from the surrounding air will be found very helpful for infections of the mouth and respiratory system.

Bergamot is also widely used in perfumes and toiletries, such as eau-de-cologne and in many foods and beverages, notably Earl Grey tea.

Caution: Possible sensitization in some individuals. We recommend a patch test (dilute the essential oil in a cream or carrier oil first) before using any new skincare preparation. As with virtually all essential oils it should not be used neat on the skin nor be taken internally!
