Traditional Use
Used by traditional western herbalists for centuries for calming the digestive system, nausea, flatulence, colic and poor appetite. Also for nasal catarrh. The unmistakable taste produces a refreshing effect and lifts the spirits.
External use: see also peppermint essential oil which can be incorporated into massage oil for muscular cramps, sports injuries, low backache and stiffness of shoulders and joints. A strong hot tea of peppermint, or a few drops of peppermint essential oil in hot water, can also be used as a steam inhalation for colds, headache and mental exhaustion
Contraindicated in pregnancy, anxiety neurosis and nervous excitability.
