INCI: Moroccan lava clay

Also known as 'Ghassoul' or 'Rasul', this luxurious superfine clay is derived from caves in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco and has been used for thousands of years in the Arab world (the name of the clay comes from the Arabic 'ghassala' meaning ' to wash') and more recently in exclusive health spas in many countries.

 It is rich in minerals such as silica, magnesium, calcium and others, and is unique among clays because of its soft, smooth, lubricating feel on the skin when moistened with pure water, hydrolat, aromatic water or plant oils, such as almond oil. It gently absorbs fat and dirt from the skin, hair and scalp and is an excellent choice of cleanser for people with sensitive skin or who cannot use detergents. It also leaves hair soft and shiny.

Directions for hair care use: place rhassoul into bowl and slowly add warm water. Allow to sit for 5 minutes. Mix rhassoul to make a muddy paste. Apply the paste to hair by sections starting from the back and moving forward. For dry hair, let sit for 5-10 minutes. For normal hair, let sit 5-15 minutes. For oily hair, let sit 10-20 minutes. Rinse well.

Directions for skincare use: mix rhassoul clay powder as above (using almond oil or aromatic water as alternatives to water) and rub into skin. Rinse well.

For scent and/or for deeper effect you can add aromatic water (rose, orange blossom or rose geranium are particularly nice!) or your choice of essential oils, when preparing your ghassoul clay.
