Sunflower oil, organic.high linoleic acid
Sunflower oil organic, high linoleic acid
INCI: Helianthus annuus seed oil
This wonderful, versatile oil comes from the cold-pressed seeds of organically-grown sunflowers.
Sunflower oil is a dry oil that spreads easily and is absorbed relatively quickly by the skin without leaving a sticky feeling. It also enables other ingredients to become more easily absorbed. It is suitable for all skin types, even oily skin.
Sunflower oil contains linoleic acid (omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids), oleic acid, lecithin, carotenoids and natural antioxidants in the form of naturals tocopherols. Given the sun-loving nature of this beautiful plant, it is not surprising that it transfers its uplifting effects to the skin via its high vitamin A, D and E content.
This oil, from organic cultivation in France, has been specially selected for its high linoleic acid content. Linoleic acid gives enhanced lubricating and moisturising effects, making it particularly helpful for acne, dermatitis, itching and some forms of eczema. This property also makes it an excellent ingredient in sun care products, hair care products, massage oil blends, skin-rejuvenation treatments and in natural soaps.
Only sunflower oil with a high linoleic or oleic acid content has stability and resistance to rancidity that enables a shelf life sufficient for skincare use. For this reason we also love using it for making our infused flower and herb oils, such as Marigold, Chickweed, Comfrey leaf and St John's Wort.
We do not recommend using this cold-pressed oil for cooking due to its low smoke point. However, used for making salad dressings and mayonnaise, it is an excellent source of nutritious, monounsaturated fatty acids.
Available in 250ml, 1 litre and 5 litre. The 250ml and 1 liter are in brown PET bottles with a tamper-evident cap, the 5 litre in a jerry can with tamper-evident cap. If you prefer your oils in glass bottles or if you require a pump dispenser (only for 250m, and 1 liter bottles), you can order these items separately.
