Evening Primrose Oil (organic)

INCI: Oenothera biennis.

Organic, cold-pressed. With added vitamin E to prolong the shelf life. A bright yellow to greenish oil with a characteristic odour.

Exceptionally high (9%) in one of the essential fatty acids GLA (gamma linolenic acid) and also contains Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. A dry, thin oil with anti-inflammatory properties it is good for dry skin, dry eczema and psoriasis.

Use in Traditional Herbal Medicine: a poultice made from the oil is used by herbalists for treating abcesses and boils. Internally at the correct dosage Evening Primrose oil is taken for premenstrual tension and breast pain, Raynaud's disease and in some cases of rheumatoid arthritis.

Caution: this oil should not be used by people with epilepsy and schizophrenia, nor when taking phenothiazine drugs.
