Chamomile (organic) CO2 extract is rich in bioactive compounds such terpenoids including bisabolol and chamazulene, and flavonoids including apigenin and quercetin which have anti-inflammatory, calming and cleansing effects.

Therefore Chamomile CO2 extract is an ideal choice of ingredient in any skin creams, body lotions, soaps, deodorants, and oral care products, intended for inflamed, sore or irritated skin and mucous membranes. 

It is also suitable as a scent in perfumes or other cosmetic products. Chamomile CO2 extract retains the herby, sweet aroma characteristic of fresh chamomile flowers and is softer and richer than the harsher scent of Chamomile essential oil. 

Our Chamomile CO2 extract is from organically-cultivated flowers of Matricaria recutita / chamomilla, also know as German or Blue Chamomile. It is produced by high-pressure extraction with natural spring carbon dioxide. This results in a high-purity, concentrated extract, rich in the abovementioned constituents. It takes 2.5-3.3kg of dried chamomile flowers to make 100g of the undiluted CO2 extract.

We obtain the extract as a very thick paste. To make it fluid and easier to measure and use we add organic jojoba oil, a stable, non-greasy, and well tolerated carrier oil.

Recommended rate of use in skincare recipes is 1-3%.  It can also be added to our ready-made base products such as Aloe vera gel, Base Cream, Shampoo Base,Castile Soap Base, and Body Wash Base.
