Tea Tree essential oil
Tea Tree has a long history of use by the Australian Aborigines who used the leaves to make herbal tea and in clay packs to treat skin conditions and inflammation.
Melaleuca alternifolia or Tea Tree is a member of the Myrtle family that includes more than 150 different species of trees and shrubs. Originally found only on the Australian continent, Tea trees are cultivated for their beautiful flowers in addition to producing essential oil.
Tea Tree has a strong fresh, spicy, camphor-like fragrance which is concentrated in the oil.
The trees from which our Tea Tree oil is distilled are grown on a family farm in New South Wales. The farm was founded by a former accountant who became disillusioned with living and working in the city. He wanted his young family to live closer to nature. He also wanted to make a living by working with nature in a way that was environmentally responsible and focused on purity and quality. After years of research and trial and error on a small piece of land, his farm now has nearly 1.5 million tea trees. We are proud to have this connection with a family in Australia that has the same respect for nature and purity as we do.
What is it used for?
Tea Tree essential oil has become known for its broad-spectrum antibiotic, antifungal and antiviral properties. It acts both directly on infections and indirectly by stimulating the human immune system.
Tea tree is also used for its purifying, conditioning and soothing effects on the skin. Due to its bacteria-inhibiting and fungicidal properties, Tea Tree oil, is used for various conditions of the skin and nails. These include abscesses, acne, herpes, cold sores, insect bites, superficial infections, cuts, abrasions, foot fungus, warts, but also boils and nail fungus. The oil also has an itching and pain-relieving effect on the skin.
Tea tree oil is recommended for lack of concentration, confusion and indecisiveness. It supports logical thinking and goal-oriented action and has a cooling and soothing effect on hotheads and agitated positions.
Tea Tree is non-toxic, non-phototoxic and basically non-irritant. Due to the substance limonene in the oil, it is possible that excessive amounts can cause skin irritation and hypersensitivity reactions (hives, vesicles, oedema). If you have sensitive skin and prefer to use an oil with similar properties but a gentler scent, we recommend Manuka essential oil.

How to use Tea Tree essential oil:
1) In a diffuser: add 3 to 3 drops of Tea Tree to the diffuser and let it diffuse for 30-60 minutes. Via vapourisation, Tea Tree is a good help for bronchitis, sinusitis, nasal and throat infections. Teatree also fights airborne fungi and mould spores.
2) In a steam bath: 3 to 4 drops of Tea Tree in hot water.
3) In the bath: put 10-15 drops of Tea Tree in the bath water and circulate the water well first so that the oil mixes well. In a foot bath: about 5 drops of Tea Tree.
4) Congestion/cough
Rub Tea Tree oil mixed with a base oil on the chest and back.
Sprinkle 1 or 2 drops of Tea Tree on the pillow before going to bed.
5) As a rinse: 1 to 2 drops of Tea Tree in a small glass of water and rinse.
For Candida in the mouth, ulcers, sore throat and gum inflammation.
If necessary, dab the spots with some Tea Tree oil on a cotton bud.
Besides rinsing, Tea Tree as a toothpaste can also help fight gingivitis
.6) For skin care: for acne, abscesses, skin infections, foot fungus and (water) warts. For abscesses, Tea Tree possesses the ability to penetrate the pus and liquefy it, making it easier to drain.
The oil is pain-relieving and strongly wound-healing. The oil may be applied pure on a wound.
For insect bites, apply a drop of tea tree directly to the affected area.
7) Baby with Mountain: Mix 5 drops of Tea Tree oil with a vegetable oil, rub on the scalp, leave on for 5 minutes. Then wash the hair. Avoid contact with eyes.
8) In a shampoo to combat itching, head lice, dandruff and oily hair.
Add 5-10 drops of Tea Tree oil to your own shampoo.
9) Tea Tree oil can also be diluted, against chalk nails, with a pure oil, for use on the nails and skin around them.
Add 20-30 drops of Tea Tree oil to 50 ml of base oil. File the affected nails first and do not lacquer. 2-3 times a day, brush the affected nails and cuticles with the diluted or undiluted Tea Tree oil. Leave to soak in for about 30 minutes. Keep repeating daily until the nail has fully recovered.
This may take 3-6 months as the affected nail has to grow out completely first. After treatment, use three times a week for 1 month.
10) Burns: rinse immediately with cold water or use an ice pack.
Use Tea Tree oil pure or diluted on the wound.
11) Sunburn: Tea Tree oil helps prevent blisters. After sunbathing, rub or dab the skin with water or aloe vera gel, to which a few drops of Tea Tree oil have been added.
12) Arthritis: (joint inflammation). Mix 3 to 5 drops of Tea Tree oil with a teaspoon of almond oil and massage the joints.13) Muscle pain: before and after strenuous sports - rub Tea Tree oil or balm on the muscles. 2% Tea Tree oil in a base oil, e.g. Jojoba oil.
14) Sprains: Rub Tea Tree oil pure on sprained area to relieve pain.
