Product Description

Safflower Oil (high linoleic) organic, cold-pressed

If you are looking for a lightweight, nutrient-dense ingredient to enrich your natural skincare products or for your own daily routine, Safflower oil (cold-pressed from the seeds of the thistle, Carthamus tinctorius) is a time-tested botanical powerhouse.  It is a valuable option in modern, natural skincare and hair care products due to its exceptional moisturizing, sebum-regulating and nourishing properties.

Versatile Uses of Safflower:
Cold-pressed, high-linoleic safflower seed oil is known for promoting, healthy, radiant skin. But the plant itself has a long history of diverse applications.

1. Cosmetics and natural  textile dye: Dating back to ancient Egypt, the vibrant red and orange petals of the safflower plant have been used for thousands of years to extract beautiful crimson and yellow pigments for textiles and early cosmetics.

2. Traditional and modern wellness: Safflower is one of the world's oldest medicinal herbs, used as such in ancient Mesopotamia and in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Ayurvedic medicine. Historically utilized to treat joint discomfort and inflammation, modern science continues to validate its soothing, therapeutic properties.

3. Culinary Applications:  Safflower seeds from high-oleic varieties are pressed into a mild, neutral vegetable oil for cooking. Further, the dried petals are historically used as a vibrant, economic alternative to saffron, lending a gorgeous yellow-red hue to culinary dishes.

The High-Linoleic Advantage:

Cold-pressed, organic, high-linoleic safflower oil is highly regarded for natural skincare due to its weightless texture and rich nutrient profile, rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids. Unlike heavier oils, including high-oleic varieties of Safflower oil, it absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving a greasy residue, making it ideal for a wide variety of skin types, particularly for acne-prone or oily skin.

Key Benefits for Skin and Hair:

• Deep Hydration: Packed with essential fatty acids, it locks in moisture and strengthens the skin barrier.

• Antioxidant Protection: Modern pharmacological studies show that safflower contains potent compounds like hydroxysafflor yellow A, which provide strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits to soothe the skin and fight environmental stressors.

• Non-Comedogenic Hydration: Because it is incredibly lightweight and mimics the naturally occurring lipids in human skin, it absorbs instantly without leaving a heavy, greasy film. It scores low on the comedogenic scale, making it ideal for oily and acne-prone skin.

• Sebum Regulation: High-linoleic safflower oil helps fluidify blocked sebum within pores, preventing the formation of blackheads and acne flare-ups.

• Barrier Repair & Soothing: It acts as an excellent emollient, conserving moisture and reinforcing the skin's lipid barrier. It is known to soothe diffuse redness, inflammation, and symptoms associated with eczema and psoriasis.

• Anti-Aging and Elasticity: Packed with antioxidant Vitamin E and essential fatty acids, it combats oxidative stress, promotes skin elasticity, and softens the appearance of fine lines.

• Hair & Scalp Health: When applied to the scalp, it stimulates blood circulation around hair follicles to promote healthy hair growth. It can also be used to condition dry hair ends and tame frizz without weighing the hair down.

How to Use:

Use 1 - 100%

a) As an Ingredient in Natural Skincare Products.
Safflower oil is not soluble in water, so for creams and lotions  it must be used in the oil phase during production For serums and other anhydrous products it can be used up to 100%.
.
• Skin Type Suitability: Normal, dry, oily, and acne-prone skin.
• Key Benefits: Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant-rich, barrier-repairing, and deeply moisturizing.

b) Use pure for Skin
• Facial Moisturizer / Serum: After cleansing smooth 2–3 drops over your face and neck to promote hydration.
• Oil Cleansing Method: Massage a generous amount onto dry skin to dissolve makeup, sunscreen, and excess sebum. Wipe away gently with a warm, damp washcloth.
• Body Massage Oil: Apply directly to rough, chapped, or damp skin right out of the shower to combat dryness from hard water.

c) Use Pure for Hair
Scalp Massage: Massage a small amount directly onto the scalp before washing to stimulate the follicles.
• Leave-in Conditioner: Rub 1–2 drops between your palms and smooth over the damp ends of your hair to seal in its natural moisture.

Precautions:

While generally hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive skin, always conduct a patch test on your inner forearm for 24 hours to rule out individual sensitivities.

Because high-linoleic cold-pressed oil is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, it is prone to rapid oxidation when exposed to sunlight and air. We recommend to keep the oil in a tightly sealed, amber glass bottle in a cool, dark place (ideally the refrigerator after opening) to maximize its shelf life.
