Ylang-Ylang III essential oil

INCI: Cananga odorata flower oil
Steam distillation of dry, fresh-picked flowers.
Origin: Madagascar.

Ylang-ylang has an intensely exotic, sweet, soft, floral-balsamic, slightly spicy scent, which makes for an intriguing perfume. But don't use too much or it will cause headache and nausea!

It is particularly suited for natural hair treatment preparations, promoting hair growth, and was a prime ingredient of Madagascar hair oil, popular before mass-produced shampoos and conditioners appeared.

In skincare ylang-ylang is useful in preparations for oily skin and acne. It's scent is also said to lift depression, relax the nervous system and promote sleep.

Caution: Possible sensitization in some individuals. We recommend a patch test (dilute the essential oil in a cream or carrier oil first) before using any new skincare preparation. As with virtually all essential oils it should not be used neat on the skin nor be taken internally!
