Chamomile has been one of the best-known medicinal herbs since ancient times. An eminent and delicious, slightly bitter tea for settling many kinds of digestive upsets, relaxing the nerves of the digestive system. It combines well and deliciously with peppermint and lemon balm. Excellent for children, calming excessive excitability and aiding sleep and rest.

Chamomile also has anti-inflammatory properties due to its rich content of chamazulene and bisabolol as well as mucilages. Taken as a tea can be soothing in cases of sore throat, mouth ulcers and peptic ulcers.

Herbalists often include this herb in treatments for skin problems. As an infusion made from a strong tea (or as a C02 extract or as an essential oil) Chamomile can be a valuable ingredient in healing creams for inflamed skin, such as in acne, boils, some forms of eczema, especially when combined with rose and lavender. Cold chamomile tea can also be applied to the eyes in cases of conjunctivitis and blepharitis.
