Dried Herb - Marigold petals (organic)

Latin / INCI: Calendula officinalis

One of the most versatile and important plants in traditional western herbal medicine. Calendula is renowned as a wound healer, stimulating the regeneration of damaged epithelium. Along with this it stimulates the immune system, is anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial (particularly against the common infectious species, staphylococcus and streptococcus). It also stops bleeding, is antiseptic and has an antihistamine action - useful for treating insect stings or bites. Recommended before and after any surgery.

Externally, this tea can be made into a lotion for washing infected wounds, ulcers or sores, or used as a mouthwash for mouth ulcers and inflammed gums. However, where a stay-on effect is required on the skin we recommend making a Marigold balm, or using Calendula macerate. Further, for making your own balms you can use Marigold CO2 extract, or for creams incorporate an infusion of this dried herb or Marigold aromatic water.
